About Diana Schafer
D. Schafer is a luxury fashion brand founded in 1992 by Diana Aguilar de Zimeri, better known in the fashion industry as Diana Schafer.

The lack of quality clothes in Guatemala in the 1980s, was the sparkle that lit inspiration within her. Since she couldn’t find what she was looking for, she started designing and adorning her own clothes with knitting needles and crochet hooks; “Why wait for others, when I can do it myself?” Later, as a young entrepreneur with a career in Business Administration and knowledge in knitwear since her childhood, she along with a friend decided to embark on an adventure and started a company in 1989. Soon after, they decided to part ways. With her unwavering passion for design and the desire to continue supporting highly skilled artisan women in her country, she decided to start her own fashion brand, with the unconditional support of her mother. In 1995, she happily married her childhood classmate, but at the same time she lost a great support, her mother. After much reflection about life and with the arrival of her four children, she partially retired. With her passion for design still alive, she decided to continue the business with her former team, serving all customers who wished to wear D. Schafer designs.

The brand first began with manual knitting machines, combining quality materials with unique designs to create elegant garments. Since the beginning, all pieces made in manual machines are hand finished with the full fashion system (the piece comes out in its final shape when knitted) avoiding waste, making it more sustainable and providing a greater value to the garment.
