D. Schafer
CARE

For D. Schafer your satisfaction is our principal goal.  Having that in mind, we want to share important tips with you.

GARMENT CARE

  • Professionally dry clean all D. Schafer garments, unless otherwise noted on the garment care label.

  • Professional dry cleaning is recommended before storing D. Schafer garments for an extended period.

  • Ask your dry cleaner to measure your garments to ensure they can be properly locked after dry cleaning.

  • Avoid applying perfume or other products on your garments, since fragrances can penetrate yarns. Besides, insects are attracted by perfumes, and may harm your clothes.

  • Immediately wash the area of the garment if a spill occurs.  Use a white cloth to absorb excess moisture.  Repeat until almost clean. Take the item to the dry cleaner as soon as possible. Remember that red wine, coffee, and other stains, if not washed immediately, will damage the garment.

  • We recommend dry cleaning light color outfits to ensure their color remains the same.

  • Ask dry cleaner to clean white and/or light-colored items with a clean solution. Changes in whites and light tones may be caused by dirty cleaning solvents.

  • Prolonged exposure to sunlight, as well as bright or fluorescent lighting, can damage your garments.

  • Cover garment buttons with aluminum foil before dry cleaning.

  • Embellishments attached to D. Schafer garments, such as crystals and metal pieces, are done using a heat-activated process. Advice dry cleaners in order to safely clean and process garments.

  • Preferably, keep your garments folded.  Remember that knitted garments can easily become misshapen if they are treated and hanged improperly.

    • Be sure to button and zip jackets and dresses before storing.

    • If hanged, use padded or shaped hangers, making sure the shoulder pads are positioned correctly on the hangers. This will help maintain the original shape of the garment.

    • Hang flat-front pants folded in the middle and "open" skirts.

TIPS WHEN YOU TRAVEL

  • Fold your clothes in half or thirds and place them in a bag to prevent wrinkles.  Place tissue paper to garments with embellishments, before placing them in a bag.

  • Pack it well to avoid movement in transit.

  • Upon arrival at your destination, unpack and hang up your clothes properly to avoid unwanted wrinkles, but if needed, we suggest the following:

    • Hang clothes in a hanger and use a travel steam iron.  If you don't have one, place the garment in the bathroom while taking a hot shower to remove wrinkles, or

    • Use a 100% cotton or linen cloth, place it over the wrinkled area and apply heat with a steam iron or hair dryer.  Don't forget to travel with a cotton or linen cloth.
